Storm King Mountain will take your breath away; not because of the views so much as, the feeling of fear, bravery and sadness rushing through your soul. 14 valiant firefighters perished there on July 6th, 1994, during the historic South Canyon Fire. It’s almost palpable while you venture up the trail. This was one of the deadliest forest fires in modern history, and has changed the way wild fires are battled today.
This beer pays homage to those who lost their lives that day. With a generous portion of Munich malts and lots of chocolate malt, this beer has a pronounced malt sweetness and a nice toasted malt balance. Because we fermented it cold with lager yeast, it has a smooth and somewhat dry finish, making it unlike any other beer in our portfolio.
Storm King Dunkel took home Gold Medal at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival. It can be enjoyed with many of our menu items, but we recommend you try it with one of our steak dishes.
